PHE Festival opens its eleventh edition on Friday, 4 September 2026, at 17:00 on the Explanada del Muelle in Puerto de la Cruz. The organisers have published the running times for the edition.
Friday is the first of the edition's two days, and each day has its own confirmed billing. The programme works across three stages — two for live sets, one for the club — and moves between indie, urban and electronic music.
The Friday bill is drawn from a wide map. England supplies Fat Dog, who came together in south London around Joe Love in 2020, and Arxx, the Brighton pair of Hanni Pidduck and Clara Townsend on guitar, voice and drums. Ibibio Sound Machine work out of London behind the Nigerian singer Eno Williams, setting West African rhythm against disco and electronics. Bodega are a New York band. From Spain come Rufus T. Firefly, led out of Madrid by Víctor Cabezuelo and Julia Martín-Maestro, EZEZEZ from Bilbao and Barry B — Gabriel Barriuso García — from Aranda de Duero; two Gran Canaria projects, Xerach and Belice, keep the islands on the bill.
Much of the bill arrives behind a recent record. Several landed in 2024: Fat Dog's first album, WOOF., on Domino; Ibibio Sound Machine's fifth, Pull the Rope; and Arxx's Good Boy, which followed Ride or Die. A year later came Todas las cosas buenas from Rufus T. Firefly and, from Barry B, the EP that gives his tour its name, Infancia mal calibrada. Canciones bobas belongs to that year too: Xerach Peñate writes pop over techno bass and tambora on it, which is not where Tizziri, her jazz debut of 2017, had left her.
Not all of these are new names. Bodega have been going since Ben Hozie and Nikki Belfiglio started the band in 2014; Rufus T. Firefly since 2006, and they played the festival in 2021. Fat Dog's single King of the Slugs dates from 2023. Belice's debut took two Premios Canarios de la Música nominations, album of the year and breakthrough artist. EZEZEZ are three albums in, at Kabarkiba, and put punk, grunge and funk through what is at bottom pop.
Ongaku, Klang Elektronik and Playhouse all date from 1993, when Roman Flügel set them up with Jörn Wuttke; house and techno are his ground, and he is on the Friday bill. Phil Hartnoll's is a club-stage DJ set — thirty years of dance music, with Orbital, the duo he co-founded, somewhere inside it.
